Neighbour to the rescue in home fire
Monday 31st January 2011, 2:59PM GMT.
A WOMAN was lucky to be alive today after she accidentally set fire to her living room when she fell asleep while smoking.
The woman, believed to be in her 50s, was rescued from her smoke-filled living room by firefighters after a neighbour was woken by her smoke alarm.
She was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to hospital for observation.
Jersey Fire and Rescue Service said today that the women could have died if the neighbour had not heard the alarm.
