Victory sprint at Lydney

Jersey full-back Michael Le Bourgeois, named man-of-the-match by Lydney officials on Saturday, kicked two conversions

JERSEY Rugby Club produced an excellent explosive performance to beat Lydney 24-7 in the National 2 South League on Saturday.

‘We won the game in the first 20 minutes,’ said coach Ben Harvey, of the away game. ‘After the first four minutes we moved the ball from deep inside our own half, secured a driving maul and then Steve O’Brien stole in for the try.’

Lydney’s team manager Colin Henderson said:  ‘We couldn’t cope with their pace, especially when they moved the ball wide to the wing. They also had two push over tries – which is unusual for us – and after so many early points there was no way back.’

Jersey have a rare weekend off next weekend. Their next two matches are at home to Richmond, a famous club they are ‘twinned’ with, and away to Ealing.
