Magistrate to face charges

MAGISTRATE-designate Ian Christmas is due to appear in the Royal Court tomorrow to be charged over a three-year criminal investigation focusing on US property investments.
Mr Christmas – a former police legal adviser – is understood to be one of several people due to appear in court in connection with the investigation.
He was on the verge of being appointed Magistrate when his offices were raided by police officers in June 2008. Their investigation centres on a syndicate which invested in properties in Orlando, Florida, which went bankrupt following the credit crunch and sub-prime mortgage crash in the United States.
