Craig Leitch on the ball for St Paul’s against Trinity Pictures: TONY PIKE (01152283)

ST PAUL’S retained the Dandara Jersey Football Combination Premiership title on Saturday after they won and both their nearest challengers were beaten.

Having defeated nine-man Trinity 5-1 at St Saviour, St Paul’s found out almost immediately that Jersey Scottish had beaten title rivals Jersey Wanderers so they would be crowned champions if St Peter failed to win at St Clement.

And it was then a nail-biting 30 minutes before St Paul’s found out as St Peter’s game at St Clement was held up for 30 minutes after St Peter goalkeeper Max Jouan broke a leg in conceding a last-minute penalty.

The score was 2-2 at the time and with Josh Franco going in goal, Jerry O’Shea beat him with the resultant penalty kick to gain St Clement a 3-2 win.
