Jersey at the double
Monday 21st February 2011, 2:59PM GMT.
JERSEY RFC achieved what is probably their finest result this season on Saturday to reignite the championship race in National II South.
Although their stunning 15-0 win at the home of league leaders Ealing actually resulted in a slight worsening of their hold on second place – third-placed Richmond gaining a bonus point in a narrow home victory over fourth-placed Old Albanians – there is little doubt who the team of this vital month is.
Ben Harvey’s boys – who have inflicted both of Ealing’s defeats on them this season – are still eight points off the leaders, but winning their game in hand could reduce that to just three, with just under a third of the season still left. And they, crucially, also have a game in hand of Richmond (well beaten the previous weekend at St Peter), who they lead by four points.
