‘Lifebuoy vandals put lives at risk’
Monday 21st February 2011, 2:57PM GMT.
ISLANDERS’ lives are being put at risk by vandals throwing harbour lifebuoys into the marina, the coastguard has warned.
Three lifebuoys have been taken from their cradles at the north end of the St Helier Marina and thrown onto the ground or into the harbour.
The coastguard said that there have been two incidents, both of which happened last Monday night.
Witnesses said that on one occasion a group of youngsters was seen throwing the lifebuoy into the water.
