Competition: Look at wider picture, urge Island firms

THE Jersey Chamber of Commerce wants official bodies to consider more carefully the effects on the economy and the wider community when making decisions that affect the future.

The body that represents hundreds of Island businesses in a multitude of sectors has expressed concern about policies being pursued by both planners and the Island’s competition regulator.

Chamber president Ray Shead said that the Jersey Competition Regulatory Authority placed too narrow an interpretation on its remit at times. And he wants it to take a broader perspective and consider the potential wider impacts of its policies when making decisions about competition.
