Draw is enough as St John clinch title

ST JOHN FC claimed the women’s football divisional title in the Dandara Jersey Football Combination last night.
At Les Quennevais the new champions may have dropped their first points of the season following a 1-1 draw with last season’s champions, St Paul’s, but by avoiding defeat St John landed the championship for the second time.
Jess Vieira fired St John ahead shortly before half-time after an
impressive team build-up involving Jodie Botterill and Becky Darts. But their joy was short-lived as a minute before the interval a St John defender got the final touch on Isabel de Freitas’ free kick to level the scores.
