MADNESS and Plan B have been announced as the headliners of Jersey Live this summer.

Ska icons Madness, led by front man Suggs, will top the bill on Saturday night and rapper Plan B will close the two-day festival on Sunday.

Plan B, who walked away with a gong for Best Male Artist at this year’s Brit Awards, was supposed to appear at last year’s festival but was forced to cancel.

Oh great, Madness hasn’t had a hit since the early 80′s and SKA music is all but obsolete. Who is choosing these acts to come over because its hardly a family day out?

A headline act is supposed to be a band from the in music now not 30 years ago.

Whats new here? Madness has reigned over the island for years and the Council of Ministers has never had a Plan A, let alone a Plan B!!!

@1. Funnily enough, the promoters choose the acts. Last years event sold out so some would say they seem to know what they are doing.

Feel free to put on your own festival and show them how it should be done.

@4. Are you Plan B’s agent or do you book the artists for Jersey Live? If you’re neither, then how do you actually know what happened…?

I think you’ve forgotten about the brief comeback about 10 years ago. “Lovestruck, I’ve fallen for a lamppost, given it my utmost…” etc.

Whilst I agree they’ve not exactly been riding high in the charts as of late, at least they’ve a) got some talent, and b) done something worthwhile in their musical careers, albeit a long time ago.

As for ‘Plan B’ well I suppose we need something that the chavs and druggies at the festival can relate to.

Not sure about a family day out. Jersey Live is the last place I would take my kids. Last years experience was enough to put me off for good.

As it happens I quite like the bands that are playing but I have a real problem with paying a fortune to have my weekend ruined by a load of bingedrinking teenage chave.

We will pay a little extra this year and go to some proper music festivals in the UK where one can buy a hotdog and a coffee for under a tenner!

Madness should have played in HDP like Will Young, would have been good.
After last years JL with all the drunken teenagers and lack of real control I won’t be back for sure.

Madness! thats a laugh,i think they will fit in over here alright.
The “Nutty boys” will be in for a treat with their music still being played to this day out of council house windows on the teak wooden speakers.

I loved Madness when i was a kid circa 1981*
However as Jerseys “still” in the 70,s they might be ready to “shock” a Jersey audience.

I cannot wait for Jona lewie,Bad Manners and the Nolans in 2012!

How much do people love a good moan!
People don’t play at festivals for free or fund their own flights, accommodation etc! It may be pricey but it’s a once a year event some actually look forward to!
Are you forced to go? No. But complain and moan any way as it’s clearly a daily requirement for some.
I personally think Jersey Live has done a lot for Jersey’s diminishing reputation for attractions and events, along with Branchage. keep up the good work!

You could always pay for flights, accommodation etc to go see who ever you want to see some where else… Or have a good moan about that as well.

Dance every day like its your last day on earth!Stop moanin’, be happy!

How about some fireworks at Jersey live too, that would be sooo cool as a closing finale!

Before you all start scriking over Madness, let me tell you i’ve seen Madness several times from the early 80′s till last time at Victoria Park in 2009, The year in which many believe was the year in which they released their masterpiece album (Liberty Of Norton Folgate) they are one of the most entertaining profesional bands out there, they are a British institution, and i for one am dead chuffed that my kids (who just cannot wait) will now get a chance to see MY idols on home turf. DON’T JUDGE TILL YOU’VE SEEN. I promise a great time will be had by all and maybe a few of the youngsters may go away home on september the 3rd a much happier bunch for what they will have just witnessed! :O) Now where’s me Pork Pie Hat ;O)

Another shockingly awful line up. Think i’ll give this year a miss again. Madness for the oldies and plan b for the chavs, what about the rest of us who enjoy good music? It’s about time jersey live got some decent acts over like a few years ago when the festival started.

Not my cup of tea. Nutty boys, gives me a break, old and silly. The tickets should be free if this is the standard thats coming over this year and it makes me wonder whether friends or family of the organisers are writing these rave comments.

in addition to my previous post, and as a response to all the negative posts, if you don’t like don’t go! simples!! so far i’ve not been to any Jersey lives as i’ve not had an interest in the bands that have played each year (well not enough to spend my hard earned money on) now THIS year its MY turn :O) if you have a problem with it tough! you can’t please all the people all the time!!

If Madness were playing tomorrow night at a major venue I’d be hard pushed to go if it was free. How many times do you listen to “House of Fun”; “Is this Love” or “Baggy Trousers” before you start banging your head against a wall? My kids have not even heard of Madness but they know the young artists in the X Factor finals of 2010. Jersey Live could of got last years finalists over if they had used their heads a bit, because they are peforming around the UK.

    well done jersey live.
madness are great entertainers as for plan b i wouldnt know, what i do know is that the bands whoever they maybe do get the people of jersey together and create a great atmosphere,
being involved in a round about way i think it is fantastic to see 1,000s of people of all ages getting together and having a great week end with minimal trouble.
as for the organisers a big WELL DONE after all the obstacles that have been put in your way , year after year you have persevered and made a great success of the festival . a festival that Jersey can be proud to host.
keep up the good work and long may it thrive.
also a big thanks to the honorary police for their involvment , the festival gives them a chance to show their worth and commitment to the island.which they do extremely well

Well done to the Jersey Live organisers for getting off their seats and doing something positive for the island. Nobody will ever agree on what the line-up should be but as long as it sells out and there is no problem everyone should support Jersey Live.

What would be good is to see the States support some camping near the venue and fo the organisers to lighten up on the food and drink ban at the entrance – there were quite a few stories last year of lovingly prepared picnics and children’s food being confiscated and of huge queues to get in. Let’s hope this year that runs a little more smoothly, but WELL DONE to the Warrens for their efforts.

ps lets hope we get The Fall as support. Marquis ChaCha!!!

Since when have festivals been about bands who have had a hit in the last year? Take a look at all the other festival & I think you will find there are several bands on their line up that ain’t had a hit since the eighties. It’s all about good music & the entertainment & I can assure you will be entertained by Madness.

    Well done Jersey Live.
