Another coast road crash

A DRIVER is due to appear today in the Magistrate’s Court following another serious crash on St Clement’s Coast Road.

Ivan Luis Alves Fernandes (22), of St Helier, has been charged with taking and driving away a van without the owner’s consent, driving without insurance or a licence and failing to stop and report the accident after he crashed into a granite wall at the top of La Mare slip.

Firefighters and paramedics were called to Grande Route de la Côte at about 4 am on Saturday after the car ploughed into the wall in front of two people waiting for a taxi.

Fernandes, who recently returned to the Island, suffered minor injuries and was kept in the General Hospital overnight and discharged on Sunday.
