Jersey still top of world’s offshore finance centres
Thursday 24th March 2011, 2:59PM GMT.
JERSEY has maintained its position as the highest-rated offshore international finance centre for the fourth time in succession.
And the Island is very close to achieving ‘global specialist’ status, which would raise its profile even further.
The latest Global Financial Centres Index was released this week and overall Jersey was placed at 23rd in the competitive rankings, ahead of Guernsey (27th), the Isle of Man (35nd), the Cayman Islands (38th) and Malta (59th).
The surveys are conducted every six months and the latest results show that Jersey was down one place but has fared well in comparison with other offshore centres.
Jersey Finance chief executive Geoff Cook said that Jersey had done exceptionally well to hold its position.

Nice spin on the use of the word Offshore. Still ranked below other European jurisdictions that are in competition with Jersey as a finance centre, i.e. Switzerland, Luxembourg

Glad to hear that been 23rd is great…Tell that to a sports person. And we dropped a place? why?

Agreed no 2 ,the usual positive spin from Jersey Finance.
If Jersey had risen one place rather than fallen one place I am sure it would have been reported.
Whether a jurisdiction is offshore or onshore is not really important, countries like Luxembourg, Switzerland, Hong Kong and Singapore are direct competitors and there rankings are much higher.
