Heart patients see benefit of £1m scanner
Saturday 26th March 2011, 2:57PM GMT.
SOME heart patients will no longer have to travel to the UK for treatment after the Hospital invested £1 million in a new state-of-the art scanner.
The new CT scanner provides a three dimensional reconstruction of the heart arteries in a procedure that takes less than 15 minutes and with minimal radiation dosage.
Its purchase means that up to two thirds of those needing diagnostic testing will be able to have them in Jersey. Those still needing further investigations will still have to travel to the UK.
