Man dies after ferry collision

Monday 28th March 2011, 8:46AM BST.

One man has died following a collision between  the Condor Vitesse and a French fishing boat this morning.

A major rescue operation was launched after the accident which happened shortly before 8 am as the Vitesse was en route from St Malo.

A fisherman, believed to have been in his 40s, was plucked from the sea after a 30-minute search, but died later in hospital. Two others were rescued unharmed from the wreckage of the vessel.
