Nettles to lead friends of threatre
Thursday 31st March 2011, 3:00PM BST.
THE Jersey Opera House will start a £1 million refit next month, backed by actor John Nettles.
The former Bergerac star will front a campaign to re-launch the Friends of the Opera House on the same day that renovation work starts on 11 April.
The 28-week project will be funded by £1 million from the fiscal stimulus fund – cash set aside to keep the economy ticking over during the downturn – and money raised by the Jersey Opera House.
Plans include extending the café’s kitchen, refurbishing offices, creating a performing arts studio and making a hospitality suite.
