A NEW exhibition about the life of one of the Island’s most famous sailors opened at the Maritime Museum on Saturday.

Called T B Davis – The Only Sailor in the Fleet, the exhibition tells the rags to riches tale of Thomas Benjamin Frederick Davis, who forged a life at sea and ended up amassing a multi-million pound fortune.

After donating roughly £1 million to the Island over the last 20 years of his life, the Davis name has become part of Jersey’s cultural landscape with the man himself being regarded as one of our greatest philanthropists.
