Fires and crashes keep the emergency services busy
Tuesday 26th April 2011, 2:57PM BST.
JERSEY’S Fire and Rescue Service was stretched to the limit over the weekend after being called out to deal with four separate incidents in the space of just 90 minutes.
From just after 6 pm on Sunday crews, including retained firefighters from the Western Fire Station, worked flat out and dealt with two car crashes – including one in which a man was thought to have head injuries – a fire in a flat in town and a barbecue gas cylinder that had burst into flames.
The Island’s other emergency services and honorary police officers were also involved in a number of the incidents and the roads where the crashes had occurred were both temporarily closed.
