THE Prince of Wales has thanked the people of Jersey for their generosity during the British Red Cross’s Haiti Earthquake Appeal.
Prince Charles, who is president of the British Red Cross, said that he was ‘genuinely touched’ by the charitable actions of Islanders, who raised £145,000 following last year’s disaster.
He passed on those good wishes recently to the chairman of the charity’s Jersey fundraising committee, Andrew Baudains, at a private reception in London.
The event, which was also attended by the Duchess of Cornwall, was hosted by the Lord Mayor of the City of London Alderman, Michael Bear, at Mansion House to acknowledge the work of the British Red Cross in Haiti and the ongoing projects that the charity is supporting.
