Threats are made to minister over Portelet

The controversial development at Portelet

THREATS and anti-semitic abuse have been sent to Environment Minister Freddie Cohen over the Portelet development.

The minister says that he has received personally abusive messages, letters and emails, some of which were ‘viciously threatening and disgustingly anti-semitic’.

There has been a wave of criticism of the minister since the JEP highlighted the appearance of the Dandara and Bridgemere development on the site of the old holiday village at Portelet.

The luxury development of 54 homes, although unfinished, has prompted criticism of the minister from environmental campaigners and members of the public, and the JEP’s website has been deluged with comments critical of the plans.

    Whilst you can never condone racist behavior,
    this is an example of how 1 man in power is abusing his authority and going against the wishes of most of the Island – I hope he and others take note – as far as I know we still live in a democracy – yet the people’s voive seems to be repeatedly ignored
