Co-op post profits of £47 million

THE Channel Islands Co-op posted record profits of £47 million for last year and is enjoying the most successful period in its history, according to its latest set of results.

About £7.5 million was handed back to members in the form of dividend as a result of the strong trading levels in 2010.

And the retail business has reported an ‘excellent’ start to 2011 despite new competition from Waitrose.
