Lift-off for Jersey!
Monday 23rd May 2011, 2:59PM BST.
TEAM Jets put Jersey firmly back on the netball map yesterday as they won the qualifying competition for a place in South West Regional League II.
Remaining unbeaten after a tough day of competition at the University of West England in Bristol means a return to UK league action in September, after a three year absence for an Island representative team.
Coach Linda Andrews was thrilled with the result but admitted: ‘Rather than jumping for joy it was a massive sense of relief.
There was just so much pressure. To go out and perform with the whole hopes of Jersey on our shoulders, as well as having a sponsorship deal on the table to do something like this, from Dominion, you just don’t want to let them down – and we didn’t.’
