Visit looks at forging trade links with Israel

Hands-on approach: Senators Freddie Cohen and Alan Maclean help Ester Levanon, chief executive of Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, to ring the bell to start trading

ISRAEL can become an important trading partner for Jersey, according to two ministers who led a visit to the Jewish state.

Economic Development Minister Alan Maclean and ‘foreign minister’ Freddie Cohen headed the high-level trade delegation who today concluded their three-day visit. And they were both excited at the prospects for the development of trade links between the two jurisdictions.

The 27-strong delegation held talks with businesses in the e-gaming, clean technology and finance sectors. Some members of the party also had meetings with senior Israeli politicians and the UK ambassador to Israel. And yesterday morning Senators Maclean and Cohen rang the bell to start trading on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange.
