Golden handshake situation is just lunacy

From Stephen Ross.
IF I were allowed to swear within these pages!
I have lost all faith in our government and in Jersey. What has happened? We have a £260,000 salary for a Hospital Director not fit for purpose, apparently a £500,000 pay-off for Mr Ogley and an apparent £300,000 pay-off for Mr Pollard.
Even if I had Mr Ogley’s handshake I could retire tomorrow and conservatively see out the rest of my days. And yet the Chief Minister refuses to comment and to accept this ridiculous situation is nothing short of lunacy.
I am not one to write in anger but there are people suffering extreme hardship through redundancy, no pay rises and tax hikes and increasing costs in all spheres and for the likes of those mentioned above do they care?
I can assure you not a jot. Senator Ozouf will again sell to the States that the public must foot the bill and by increasing GST and taxes for all to meet this burden.
There is a question I would ask (although I know the answer): is there a deduction for tax at the high earner rate for these pay offs? ‘No, you would say this is a tax free sum,’ would be the answer.
The hospital director should go back to where he came from as he does not justify the salary.
The same should have happened to Mr Ogley and if you look at the photo of Mr Pollard he appears to me to be holding his head in shame.
Anger is not a word I would use. Raging would be closer and I demand explanation.

It’s OBSCENE in the current climate!
And they refuse to take GST off food and fuel! Well I just can’t wait for ANY politician standing in elections this year to come canvassing at my door – especially those that voted against it!

This is not just disgusting it’s OBSCENE. It’s an insult to all of us struggling out here in the current climate. And they refuse to take GST of food and fuel! Woe betide any politician currently in office and standing in the next elections to come canvassing at my door – especially those who voted against it – I’ve got my list of those ready to hand. How much more of their incompetence can the residents of this Island take?

I am amazed at the amount this Island will put up with, even the most comfortable people must reach a level when they must say” enough is enough”.
