Harvey plumps for experience

Barbarians cap David Doherty will bring Premiership experience to the Island team tomorrow

Jersey Rugby head coach Ben Harvey has gone for experience in the crucial encounter with Loughborough students at St Peter tomorrow.

In the club’s bid for promotion to National 1 South, Harvey is without winger Ed Dawson – the club’s joint leading try-scorer in National II South) – who has a shoulder injury and admits that others are unlucky to miss out.

‘Both Cubie (Ross Kenwright) and Brendan (O’Brien) have been playing well, so it was a tough call for them,’ said Harvey.

‘But they’re both on the bench and could well come on. I’ve preferred the experience of Graham Bell to Charlie Clyde-Smith, but Charlie’s an impact player and I’d expect to see him in the game at some stage.’
