Top eight finish for Jersey in Sicily

JERSEY celebrated finishing in eighth place at the closing ceremony of this year’s Jeux des Iles in Palermo, Sicily, on Saturday night.JERSEY celebrated finishing in eighth place at the closing ceremony of this year’s Jeux des Iles in Palermo, Sicily, on Saturday night.

Although equal on points with seventh placed Malta, they were handed the trophy for eighth based on the number of events they had entered, with the Mediterranean island having only competed in one more than Jersey.

The Altis Partners Jersey team has featured in athletics, gymnastics, sailing, swimming, table tennis, and tennis since the games began last Monday and they came away with 15 medals plus a bronze in the friendly mixed gymnastics event.
