Fundraisers in the pink
Thursday 9th June 2011, 12:00PM BST.
MORE than 1,000 women of all ages ran, walked and jogged from La Frégate café to Bel Royal and back yesterday morning to help in the battle against cancer.
It was the second-biggest turn-out for the Jersey Race For Life, which raises money for Cancer Research UK, with a total of 1,275 women taking on the 5 km course.
The figure beat last year’s turn-out by hundreds and the event organisers are now hoping that once all the sponsorship money has been collected, they will have raised more than £100,000.
That money will be used to support the charity’s work to find new ways of preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer in a bid to save millions of lives.
