More protection for countryside
Wednesday 22nd June 2011, 3:00PM BST.
SOME of Jersey’s most beautiful countryside will receive greater protection and a park could be created on the outskirts of town after two major proposals were passed in the States yesterday.
On the first day of the Island Plan debate, Members voted to extend a coastal national park earmarked for St Ouen to Mourier Valley, Wolf’s Caves and parts of Gorey.
They also approved a proposal to consider developing a country park on the north and west edge of town.
But Members narrowly rejected a further call to extend the coastal park to the headland at Plémont.

2012 is the year of the London Olympics and to celebrate this great event the Jersey Evening Post, in association with sponsors Ogier is giving all sporting clubs a chance to win a share of £10,000.

“Members voted to extend a coastal national park earmarked for St Ouen to Mourier Valley, Wolf’s Caves and parts of Gorey”.
Is this because Dandara don’t want to develop these areas?
“But Members narrowly rejected a further call to extend the coastal park to the headland at Plémont”
Is this because someone does?
Another park this time on town outskirts, well you can’t have too many parks, kids need somewhere to play, it’s not as if there are any parks in or near town and we don’t have any beaches. Will this one cost £10 million to dig up a car park?
No matter as a taxpayer I’m happy to pay for it, GST increase but whatever you do don’t tax the rich any higher.

What is the point of an artificial park. There is enough natural beauty to conserve and encourage.

When will the coastline be protected and that hideous incinerator at Havre-des-Pas camoflagued as soon as possible because it is an eyesore.

Even worse news on this issue that ONE man can sanction the machinations of WEB/Jersey development or whatever they call it…probably change it again as soon as it draws some negative fire which it will…what is wrong with this island Govt that it has already seen what one man can do when Freddie trashed portelet, allowed John LE Fondre to go up a floor on el tico when the ENTIRE planning dept had reccomended against…A COMMITTEE is what works a committee has at least OTHER opinions..not this dictatorial autocratic madness..the people will never ever trust it so get used to the fact that many of us will strive to undo this. The planning minister must not have single power over these people selling the family silver and making other individuals super rich from selling what is OURS.too many in there with the Messiah complex as it is.
