Muratti final date takes precedence

GUERNSEY will have to field two teams if a Muratti match clashes with one of Guernsey FC’s Combined Counties League fixtures.
The reason is Guernsey FC is recognised as a club while the Muratti is an inter-association ‘island’ fixture with the latter taking precedence over club games.
The Channel Islands inter-insular committee met in Guernsey last weekend and the dates for the 2011/2012 Kleinwort Benson Muratti will remain on the first Bank Holiday weekend in May, despite a request from Guernsey to put it back a week.
The women will play on Sunday 6 May and the men 24 hours later. Both matches are in Jersey.
