Close to 200 Island sportsmen and women left Jersey this morning on the first leg of their journey to the 14th NatWest Island Games, which opens in Ryde, the Isle of Wight, tomorrow night.

Team Jersey, which with support staff numbers around 250, will be one of the biggest teams to line-up to contest the 15 sporting disciplines over six days of competition next week.

Team Jersey, who have chartered a Condor Ferries vessel for the trip, will first pick up the Guernsey and Sark teams before heading on for Poole, then take a short roard trip to Lymington to board another ferry for Yarmouth, Isle of Wight.
