Ian Kingham who died in a road accident in the UK

TRIBUTES have been paid to a Jersey businessman who died in a motorcycle accident in the UK this week.

Ian Kingham (54) died shortly after colliding with a car on the A31 in Hampshire on Wednesday. He suffered multiple injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Today it emerged that the Harley-Davidson rider regularly offered rides to injured servicemen brought to the Island by the Holidays for Heroes Jersey charity.

Richard Woodhouse, who founded the charity with wife Dawn in 2008, said: ‘I was nearly crying last night, I could not believe it. He was just such a lovely fellow.’

So terrible. As a rider, I had some imbecile try and cut me off on Friday afternoon, because I overtook him legally. Even if it were illegal, he isn’t a police officer, and has to try and run me off he road is absolutely stupid.

All car drivers who have never been on a motorbike must think before they try and pretend they are police officers, or make telephone calls, or drive after a few drinks, that a small ding on a car is a motorcyclists life.

My sympathies go to his family.
This sad occurance would be less likely if every driver had to pass a motorcycle/moped test before being allowed to drive a car. You really learn road awareness on a two wheeler, the state of the road in all weather conditions and the possible actions of other road users including pedestrians.
It hurts if you fall off. I know.

I have recently returned from a fantastic holiday on your beautiful island. I was there with my family thanks to the generosity of the Charity Holidays for Hero’s. One of the best nights we had was the night the biker club kindly took us out for a ride around your island. If he was as kind and generous as his fellow bikers, then your island has lost a true gent. My family would like to pass on our condolences to his family and friends.
