Jersey opener Dean Morrison hit an unbeaten 64 to secure victory over Israel at the Farmer’s Field yesterday evening (01267656)
JERSEY opened the defence of their ICC European Division I title in fine style yesterday with victories in their opening two Twenty20 matches.
In the race to gain a place in the final World Cup qualifier in Dubai next year Germany were brushed aside by six wickets at Les Quennevais and then, early last evening, Israel were dispatched in equally emphatic fashion, by eight wickets, at the immaculately-looking Farmer’s Field in St Martin.
Fast bowler Anthony Kay took three wickets in both matches; veteran Tony Carlyon returned to the Island scene to take four wickets for nine runs against Israel; and opener Dean Morrison scored an undefeated 64 to steer the hosts to victory against the same opponents.
‘It’s been a good opening day and two pleasing results, said Jersey coach Craig Hogan.
