Over 4,000 people went to Grassroots on Saturday

ORGANISERS of Saturday’s Grassroots Festival are aiming to double their fun next year and run a two-day event.

With a record crowd of just over 4,200 attending Saturday’s event in St Ouen, promoters Allez-oop have announced that they are planning to expand. Organiser Linzi Wilson said that she was delighted with how the event had gone. ‘It was really good. We were really incredibly lucky with the weather,’ she said. ‘We had a pretty hard site build, so it was amazing to see the sun come out, and it was just a really, really lovely kind of vibe. Everyone was really relaxed and super-friendly, and there was a really nice and quite diverse kind of audience.’
She added that there was no trouble at the event and thanked the States and honorary police, and Ambulance Service for their support.

Saturday’s festival was the fourth put on by Allez-oops. It was held in front of the dam at Val de la Mare reservoir and ran until 11 pm. Headlined by UK festival mainstay Seasick Steve, he was followed on the bill by Arrested Development, the US hip hop band who topped the charts in the early 1990s.

Perhaps that’s because the busses that were provided were well run and easily available, which prevented people like myself from needing to take their cars?
