The cost of gas is going up by an average of 7.4 per cent
THOUSANDS of Islanders are facing another rise in household bills after Jersey Gas announced that its prices are to increase for the third time in less than a year.
The cost of gas will rise by an average of 7.4 per cent on 1 August. It follows a 15 per cent rise in October last year and a further seven per cent increase in March. The rise is likely to increase the financial strain on Islanders who are already facing significant rises in the cost of household bills, food and fuel.
Paul Garlick, managing director of Jersey Gas, said that the firm had no option but to increase prices following the continued rise in the cost of LPG, the type of gas used in Jersey.
