Jersey’s best bet to end a long run of Guernsey successes is likely to be Team 2e2, coxed by Emma Salkeld
HOPES are high that a Jersey crew might bring home the silverware in this Saturday’s Collins Stewart Sark to Jersey rowing race.
After a strong performance in the Gorey to Carteret last week, men’s four Team 2e2 look well placed to end Guernsey’s six-year domination of the event.
Although it’s a new crew this year, the team has a potentially winning crew combination as James Salkeld (27) and Paul Coutanche (31) are experienced Jersey coastal rowers. Their brawn is balanced this year with the technical finesse of Chris Hobbs (24) and Michael Johnson (24). Both of these oarsman are former river rowers who competed at youth level in the British national rowing squad. Their expertise has helped the crew improve the quality and timing of their rowing stroke.
