Sharp goes solo again

JERSEY solo sailor Phil Sharp will be one of just four British entrants on the start line of the prestigious 1,695 nautical mile Solitaire du Figaro on Sunday.

Skippering his chartered Beneteau Figaro 2, The Spirit of Independence, the 2006 Route de Rhum winner will be joining 48 other sailors in Perros-Guirec for the month-long, four-leg race around Northern France and up to Ireland.

Sharp (30) a graduate of the Artemis Offshore Academy spent the winter training in the academy’s Classe Figaro Beneteau yachts with his aim being to compete in this year’s Figaro as the next step in his offshore sailing career.
