A sleep-deprived Phil Sharp
SOLO sailor Phil Sharp has spoken of his disappointment after going from a top five place to finish the third leg of the Solitaire du Figaro in 20th on Wednesday.
Sharp, a former CI Sports Personality of the Year, will tackle the fourth and final leg tomorrow – after having a much needed rest over the past few days.
It had been going so well for the Jersey sailor on The Spirit of Independence as he was only a matter of hours from finishing the stage in Les Sables d’Olonne on the west coast of France.
However, his progress was drastically halted due to a large clump of seaweed.
