A police officer with flowers placed at Victoria Crescent
THE families of those killed in the Victoria Crescent murders have thanked Islanders for their ‘overwhelming support’ over the last week.
In a statement issued through the police family liaison officers, the families of the six victims have said that they have been ‘grateful and extremely touched’ by the support they have received.
The sole suspect remains Damian Rzeszowski (30), who has been formally arrested in respect of the deaths and who remains under guard in the General Hospital.
He is said to be in a stable condition after surgery for knife wounds that he received in the attack, and is now conscious. Police are waiting for permission from doctors to interview Rzeszowski over Sunday’s attacks.
Over the course of the week, Islanders have left flowers, soft toys and cards at either end of the police cordon at the scene of the attacks at Victoria Crescent.
