Shadine Duquemin won gold, as did Stanley Livingston

TWO titles, four medals and a championship record capped an amazing showing by Stanley Livingston and Shadine Duquemin in the England Athletics Championships in Bedford yesterday.

Livingston broke the meet record to win the 400m under-15 event with a personal best of 49.97 sec. This after a disastrous start to the final of the 80m hurdles, running as favourite, which left him on the wrong leading leg throughout.

Despite the setback he still finished second, just 0.05 seconds behind the winner in 11.25 sec. His time in an earlier heat (11.10 sec) still earns him the number one ranking in the UK in his age group.

It all came together for Duquemin however, as she set four PBs in a row to improve her 4 kg shot best to 12.62m and place second in the U17 event. In her favoured event, the discus, she blew the competition away to win with 46.02m, 86 centimetres off her best but more than seven metres ahead of her nearest rival.
