Victim who became a father figure to many
Tuesday 23rd August 2011, 2:59PM BST.
THIS is 56-year-old Marek Garstka, who was murdered alongside his daughter, two grandchildren and two family friends at Victoria Crescent last Sunday.
Described last week as a ‘father figure’ who helped many Polish newcomers to settle in Jersey, Mr Garstka is believed to have been living with his daughter Izabela Rzeszowska (30) in a flat on the crescent at the time of the attack.
He was killed alongside her, her two children Kinga (5) and Kacper (2) and family friend Marta Dominika de la Haye (née Klonowska) and her five-year-old daughter Julia Frances.
A plasterer by trade, Mr Garstk, whose photo was released by police today moved to Jersey from Bydgoszcz, Poland, in 2005 and had been working for the last year at fulfilment firm Indigo Lighthouse.
