Wanderers’ Chris Andrews hits home the only goal of the Charity Cup semi-final against St Paul’s

A first-half ‘screamer’ from fit-again forward Chris Andrews was enough to see Jersey Wanderers progress to the Charity Cup final at the expense of St Paul’s last night.

This was the second time in a row that Mark Cassidy’s men have lost out to Wanderers in the Charity Cup but it would have to be described as a shock, albeit a minor one, due to their dominance of Island football in previous seasons.

However, no one could argue that Wanderers did not fully deserve their victory.

Their overall team cohesion, combined with a fantastic left-foot drive from outside the penalty area by Andrews, not only took Wanderers through to the final but also underline their credentials as genuine challengers to St Paul’s league crown.
