Hotels have high hopes for a busy bank holiday
Thursday 25th August 2011, 2:57PM BST.

Among visitors enjoying this week’s sunshine were Sarah and Julian Firth and their children Harry and Lily from Mirfield, near Huddersfield
TOURISTS are choosing Jersey as their bank holiday destination and some hotels are expecting to be full over the three-day break.
With the weather outlook for the weekend looking good, hoteliers and guest house owners are hoping that more people will decide to come to Jersey at the last minute expecting to be able to relax in the sun.
If the forecast for a mainly sunny weekend with just a slight risk of rain on Saturday is accurate, those who do spend the bank holiday in Jersey can expect to see the Island at its summer best. The temperature is expected to be 20ºC or 21ºC, which is normal for August.
Rooms at the Radisson Hotel are all occupied on Saturday, with just a few available on Sunday and Monday. Hotels in the Dolan group – the Somerville, Cristina and Golden Sands – are almost fully booked for the weekend, with just a few vacancies remaining.

2012 is the year of the London Olympics and to celebrate this great event the Jersey Evening Post, in association with sponsors Ogier is giving all sporting clubs a chance to win a share of £10,000.
I really hope the weather holds for any bank holidaymakers, you can’t beat Jersey on a good summers day. It will seem like the good old days, albeit briefly.

We got lucky this year-because folk in the UK are not going abroad due to the euro exchange rate.

I wonder how many last minute bookers will pull out of coming for the airshow if the Red Arrows are still grounded?
Will they be content with watching a few local and continental collecters items and the rocket man?

Ooops! Collectors’items!

Quite agree, Bored.
I’ve never been keen on encouraging tourists, other than a select few who appreciate the place as much as I do!
Anyway, I gather that the Reds are flying again. I’ll be surprised if we see them doing run and breaks at the airport in future. Even if bird strike is ruled out as the cause of the Bournemouth crash, this must surely be a high risk activity where seagulls etc may have learned to keep clear of the centre line and fly off to the sides when planes approach.

As someone who works in the hotel industry, if I was cynical, I might be a little bit concerned that the last paragraph of this story (as above) appears to be an advert for the Radisson availability.
But I am not a cynic luckily
