JEP columnist takes charge at Silverstone
Friday 26th August 2011, 2:57PM BST.
DEREK WARWICK was officially elected as the new president of the British Racing Drivers’ Club at the annual general meeting at Silverstone yesterday.
Jersey-resident Warwick follows in the footsteps of Damon Hill who confirmed at the start of June he would be stepping down from the role after five years in office.
Owner of the Honda dealership that carries his name and regular Jersey Evening Post columnist, Warwick competed in Formula One, the Le Mans 24 hours (which he won in 1991), World Sportscar Championship and British Touring Car Championship during his career. He knows he has a tough act to follow.
