US insurance giant makes a move into Island market

A MULTI–billion-dollar US insurance group has entered the Jersey market.

MetLife has launched a local business and appointed Paul Frankland as sales development manager to spearhead its operation. Mr Frankland – Island Games squash gold medallist – is initially the only employee but the company has ‘significant’ expansion plans.

Metlife Europe has its headquarters in Ireland but is an affiliate of US-based MetLife Inc, a global insurance and financial services organisation which includes the largest life insurer in the US among its subsidiary companies.

The organisation is renowned for financial strength and security and had £384.4 billion worth of total assets at the end of September last year.
