Murder suspect in court
Saturday 27th August 2011, 3:00PM BST.
FLANKED by two police officers in a media-packed Royal Court, Damian Rzeszowski was formally charged yesterday afternoon with the six Victoria Crescent murders.
Heavy security surrounded the building, with armed and unarmed officers stationed at each exit, as the 30-year-old reserved his plea to all of the charges laid against him just after 4 pm.
Mr Rzeszowski said nothing during the ten-minute hearing, giving barely perceptible nods of understanding to the Polish translator who whispered the charges that named his alleged victims, including his wife and two children.
Mr Rzeszowski has been charged with murdering his wife Izabela (30), his children Kinga (6) and Kacper (2), his father-in law Marek Gartska (56), Marta de la Haye (34) and her daughter Julia (5).
No bail application was made and the case was put off until Friday 28 October.
