Jet man sets his sights higher
Wednesday 31st August 2011, 2:58PM BST.
JET Man Yves Rossy is preparing to rocket back over the skies of Jersey – but has been forced to cancel his planned low flypast.
Last month, event organisers said that the stuntman might be able to swoop down to just 600 ft over St Aubin’s Bay after designing a new rocket system.
The so-called ‘rocket parachute extraction system’ would have allowed the 52-year-old to fly low above the heads of the crowd before powering back up to 2,500 feet to allow his parachute to deploy safely.
But Mr Rossy yesterday told the JEP that the new pack is still not reliable enough – and that he will instead be using the same system as he did during last year’s event.
However, he is still hoping to fly lower than during last September, as he now has more experience handling his wings.

This guy still seems like a bit of a rip off if you ask me.
Its not so much rocket man, as “man falling with some forward momentum from little rockets” man.
I imagine if you chuck a cow out of an aeroplane with som plastic wings and a rocket strapped to it, it could do something similar.
Ill be impressed when he takes off from the floor, then flies around and lands again, and the parachute is just a back up!
