Cost-cutting move may alter Harbours and Airport status
Saturday 17th September 2011, 2:57PM BST.
JERSEY’S Harbours and Airport department could be turned into a States-owned company to save costs.
Economic Development Minister Alan Maclean has commissioned a full business case for incorporating the Harbours and Airport, after a proposal by the shadow board that has been advising on policy affecting the two organisations.
He says that the board – chaired by former KPMG senior partner Charles Clarke, and including former Chief Minister Frank Walker and former Co-op chief executive Allan Smith – has recommended turning the two trading departments into a company.
