Jersey to host legends?
Saturday 24th September 2011, 3:00PM BST.
JERSEY could stage a Legends of Squash Tour event within the next 12 months.
Island Games triple gold medallist Nick Taylor is the man behind the move and it came about after he participated in, and finished fourth at, a Legends event in London last weekend.
Taylor, a wild card entry, was in good form as he defeated former world number one and world champion Jonathan Power, in a group match, before eventually being edged out 11-9, 11-7 by four-time Commonwealth Games gold medallist Peter Nicol in the third place play-off.
Have spoken with various players and Tour officials in London a tour event could be on the calendar for Jersey within the next year.
Taylor added: ‘I’ve been given an opportunity to possibly stage a Tour event next year and if it comes off that would be fantastic. ‘Tour players Peter Nicol and Tim Garner have played exhibition squash in Jersey before and they are both very keen to come again.’
