States offer lifeline to six discounted-homes families
Monday 26th September 2011, 2:59PM BST.
SIX families whose hopes of moving into discounted homes were dashed last week have been thrown a lifeline.
Assistant Treasury Minister Eddie Noel says that he is working to find a solution and says there is ‘tremendous political support’ to get the families into the houses at Uplands on New St John’s Road.
They were told last week that they had lost out on the homes they had been offered through the discount ‘Homebuy’ scheme, after Environment Minister Rob Duhamel redesignated them as first-time buyer units.
He said he had no choice, and that States’ lawyers told him there was no legal way to continue with the Homebuy policy, under which families who meet set criteria can buy discount homes through the States on condition that they pay back the discount when they sell the houses.

KIT 4 CLUBS
Win a share of £10,000
2012 is the year of the London Olympics and to celebrate this great event the Jersey Evening Post, in association with sponsors Ogier is giving all sporting clubs a chance to win a share of £10,000.

He said he had no choice, and that States’ lawyers told him there was no legal way to continue with the Homebuy policy,
So this obviously means that all other homes sold on this scheme called Homebuy Policy are also illegal?

Media coverage + election year = U-turn, scrabble & buck ducking. Good luck to these families & perhaps those “appalled” politicians would like to manifesto something for all those who want house prices to come back to reality.

Thrown a lifeline they should be compensated
for the stress and turmoil suffered.
For all the prosperity and growth of business
the Jersey people have had no benefit.
Infact the reverse they are treated very badly
by the very people who are supposed to be
representing them.
