CI team lose three in Open
Tuesday 27th September 2011, 3:01PM BST.
THE Channel Islands team have had three surfers eliminated from the Open section of Eurosurf 11 taking place in Ireland.
Tom Hill, Nathan Elms and Matt Chapman all went out after the lack of that elusive high scoring second wave, while Chapman also suffered a paddling interference which meant one of his scoring waves was immediately halved.
However, Alex Vibert took full advantage of the peak conditions at Bundoran to take second place against competitors with more experience than him.
Team manager Roley McMichael said: ‘We’re disappointed to lose three guys from the Open but their efforts were outstanding against the cream of European surfing.’
