‘I hope they are walking the meadows in heaven’
Friday 30th September 2011, 2:59PM BST.
A SINGLE rose was laid across each of the four urns at last night’s memorial service in remembrance of a mother, her father and her two children who were victims of a multiple stabbing attack in St Helier.
Hundreds of mourners gathered at St Thomas’ Church to pay their respects to Izabela Rzeszowska (30), her two children Kinga (5) and Kacper (2), and father Marek Garstka (56) who had been cremated earlier in the day at a private family service.
In an emotional reading by Mr Garstka’s brother, Wieslaw Garstka, who was visiting from Poland with his wife, he said that he hoped his brother was now walking through the meadows in heaven with his beloved daughter and grandchildren.
The lives of Marta de la Haye and daughter Julia, who were also killed in the attack, were remembered in a separate burial service last Saturday.
