Overlooked by the magnificent bulk of Mont Orgueil Castle, the Royal Bay is wide, sandy and safe.
The best facilities are concentrated at the Gorey end where there is also water skiing, wakeboarding, banana boat rides, canoes and glass bottomed boat hire.
The tide goes out a long way, but when it comes back in over hot sand, the sea can be pleasantly warm. Parking is easy at several points along the bay, especially opposite the Common at Gorey.
